Iran’s Sadr-Ameli wins top prize at Singapore festival

TEHRAN -- The Iranian film “Each Night of Solitude” by Rasul Sadr-Ameli was awarded at the 22nd Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF), which was held from April 14 to 25.
Sadr-Ameli won the Best Director Award at the Asian Feature Film Competition Section of the festival for his film, which is the second of his “The City that I Love” trilogy.“Lonely Tune of Tehran” by Saman Salur, and “Letters to the President,” a documentary on Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad by Czech filmmaker Petr Lom, also participated in the gala.
The 22nd Singapore International Film Festival has awarded its top honor, the Silver Screen Awards' Best Asian Feature Film, to Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi's for “Laila's Birthday.”
The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award went to “Jalainur” by Zhao Ye.
The Festival screens over 200 films annually of all genres, with a focus on groundbreaking Asian cinema. Under the umbrella of the Silver Screen Awards, SIFF recognizes excellence in Asian cinema with its 3 awards categories – Asian Film Competition, Singapore Short Film Competition and the Singapore Film Awards that has been introduced in 2009.
